The history of this temple reaches back to Middle Ages – the first mentions were recorded in 13th century and were related to the arrival of Knights Templar in the Silesia. The church is a brick building oriented according to the Gothic style. It is surrounded by a stone wall. The presbytery and the vestry were built in the 15th century, while the aisle and the tower – in the 17th century.

The temple altar is a beautiful, three-part structure adorned with golden ornaments. The heart of the altar presents a depiction of the Black Madonna of Częstochowa. Sculptures of saints are placed at its sides. The entire altar is crowned with a painting of the Virgin Mary with the Holy Child with the Eye or Providence with radiating rays atop the painting.

The City of Gliwice provides funds for repairs of the historical temple.
