The city walls with two gates – the Bytom Gate (White Gate) and the Racibórz Gate (Black Gate), ul. Grodowa, mid-15th / mid-16th century
Built of broken stone and brick, the walls encircled the entire medieval town and were approximately 1,120 metres long. To enhance their defensive capacity, they were reinforced with a dozen or so towers, most of them open on the town side. Two gates led into Gliwice: the Racibórz Gate (from the west) and the Bytom Gate (from the east).
